Research Interests: anticolonial epistemologies, critical theory, cultural studies, experimental writing pedagogies, feminist science and technology studies, multimodal methods, new media, and sound studies.
Dr. Freya Zinovieff is an interdisciplinary scholar, artist, and curator. Her work intersects the areas of critical theory and media, sound studies, and decolonial praxis, with an emphasis on anticolonial writing pedagogies and collaborative knowledge production. She holds a PhD from the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University, an MFA from the University of New South Wales, and a First-Class Honours degree from the Cambridge School of Art at Anglia Ruskin University.
Dr. Freya Zinovieff is currently pursuing a SSHRC funded Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan (Supervised by Dr. Fiona P. McDonald), and their project looks at Echoes of Empire: Decolonial Sound Studiess linking Canada and Jamaica.
